The HPU Revival!

A slight update of the hpu naming and forums thread. Have added 'Wizarding London', with the subforums 'St Mungo's Hospital' and '12 Grimmauld Place', have also added 'Department of Mysteries' as a MOM subforum. I'm also now going to have a little discussion with myself on user groups. I'm thinking four... 'Student' - for those who choose to have character under the age of 18, and therefore are pretty much locked in Hogwarts for nine months of the year. 'OOTP' -for those who are in the OOTP. 'Death Eater' - for those who are DEs. 'MOM Employee' -for those who'd rather stay of of the DEs/OOTP but are still adult chars. Each group is going to have it's own locked forum, I'm going to add a 'Common Room' forum to Hogwarts (dependant on whether people want to have students) as I think for a forum this small we don't really need all four. So, the question I need to put to all of you is...
Poll #813106
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 8
Would you, as a valued member, want to have the 'Student' group?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is the weekend. The weekend I wanted to start work on the official HPU reunion board. Replies have been sparse so far, but I expect that has been because of the topics. It's been more of a case of me informing you of whats going on, rather than asking opinions, for the past couple of posts, and those opinions I have asked for have been on things most of you don't know about or haven't been relevant to you. But now this stops!
The most important thing I am asking is for name suggestions. Nothing can get started until we decide upon a board name, so I hope you'll all be prompt in your responses, and suggest something or give feedback on other suggestions.
Secondly we need to decide on the areas the board will cover. I don't want to end up with hundreds of forums and sub forums, so lets not go mad, but we need a basic level of forum formatting so the Rps can take place in the appropriate place and threads do not get missed or lost.
On that level I am suggesting this kind of layout:-
--------------------------- This will contain the Announcements forum to deal with announcements relevant to the site, and the Moderation Discussion forum. For official use to discuss threads OOC, what you're happy with, what could change, to ask questions of members and point out anything that needs attention.
I will set up a 'Anon' account, which all will have the password to, so that complaints (if there are any) can be posted in the knowledge there will be no backlash to the user. I doubt it'll be needed, but as we have seen in the past users can do things to offend others without intending to, and it's best to have a way of dealing with this. This will contain the following... Azkaban Diagon Alley (with the subforum 'The Leaky Cauldron') Knockturn Alley (with the subforum 'Gofien House') Hogwarts (with the subforum 'Hogsmede') The Ministry Of Magic (with the subforum 'The Department of Mysteries') Wizarding London (with subforums 'St Mungo's Hospital' and ' 12 Grimmauld Place')
As you can see I've not bothered with sub forums for Hogwarts and Diagon Alley, there are just too many. I'm suggesting that Gofien House and 12 Grim Place be locked forums for their members, which of course will be those leaning to the Dark Side or the Order. Also, the D of M will be locked for ministry emplyees only. This will be out 'OOC' section, with of course a RP Discussion forum and a General OOC forum.
---------------------------
So, let me know what you think, what should be added, and what should be taken away.
xx Fe [Edit 1: 1/9/6:Moved the LC] [Edit 2: 2/9/6: Added 'Wizarding London', moved 'St Mungos', added '12 Grimmauld Place', added 'department of Mysteries'. Updated paragraph about them.]

Annie and Bree have now also contacted me, as has the wondrousness that is Pruffykinns so welcome back all! ^_^
I'm thinking we ought to stick with Invisionfree (now Zetaboards). Not only have we all used it before so the mod and admin panels will be easy to figure out, but it also has very cheap ad removal ($0.15 per 1000 page views, and without the huge member load of HPU the $5 minimum spend should last a few months). It also runs on CSS so customization will be simple (and if not I'm sure I can corner Mims on MSN to skin it for us ^_^ ' ).
As for inviting new members... I don't know. To be honest the idea of this is that it would be the old HPU gang, so no one would have any worries about who they were RPing with and we wouldn't need to worry about rules, about the quality of RP and of course about serious board moderation. To be honest I love administration, being the absolute control freak I am, but in the end it took all the fun out of the RP (not to mention I got bored of the student swho thought pissing of the Slytherin HOH was their raison d'etre ¬_¬).
As for new characters, go right ahead. Just remember that they are new characters, and unlike the old characters won't be privy to the delphian knowledge of the old-timers. >:P

Hello people. Sarah here. But some of you would prefer to call me Hades. That's fine by me, too. :)
I'm glad that Fefe set this up and LJ makes it so much easier for us to keep in touch. So! How've you been? I'm in the middle of my exams and getting my ass in gear. (No comments about my ass now, people.)
I've missed you lot. |

Ok, I just did a huge mailing to the ex HPU members I can recall and would want RPing with us! Hey all!! It's been a long time since I spoke to some of you! I'd love to know how you're all doing! Anyway, what I really e-mailed about is the possibility of a small HPU revival. The original site is dead in the water, mostly due to you, the old members, those that actually knew how to RP, followed the rules and contributed your hours and hard work to the site, not having the time to continue with membership. I had the same issue. Life gets on top of you, and sooner or later you have to take at least a sojourn away from RP and friends simply because you can't be around and don't have the energy to join in any longer. I just like to say that you're leaving wasn't only a loss for you, it was a loss for us all. So, I raided the HPU admin panel for your e-mails, and am sending this to direct you to my LJ. A few of us are considering holding a small, closed reunion. The only people invite so far are the people in HPU that I can personally remember, and who'se writing was of an amazing standard. In future weeks, once things are up and running, you'll be free to submit any names I missed to the group on LJ for all members to vote on. The majority will rule, and if people can't remember your member, or don't believe their RP will be of any worth, they will not be accepted. This means that on the whole we should end up with a small but productive community of individuals that have either RPed with you before, or have been vetted by other members. We currently have six or seven 'pre-members', and I am stalking you all to sign up. RP is no fun without your friends! xx Feronia (( http://feardantane.livejournal.com )) (( http://community.livejournal.com/hpu))
It went to Breena, Lex, Virginia, Aaron (Lunaran), Aiera (Lunaran), Zair, Khar, Wyn, Arky, February, Meredith, Keith, Azalia, Amatae, Annie and Adrienne. Then I got a MDS message telling me that Wyn, Bree, Aiera, Zair and Azalia's E-Mails were out of date! Luckily I have a second e-mail for Bree, Zair is easily contactable through LJ, Wyn has a site I can contact her through, and Azalia is still on LJ (I think). Five seconds after those, Adrienne contacted me... HIIIIIII! :D I know what you mean. Life definitely got on top of me too. But Adrienne would love to join in on the fun. I think that I have your LJ on my FL, so I will check it out :D
So, welcome back Jenn! Nice to have you on-board! xx Fefe |

You heard it here... second. Through a total lac of anything resembling a life I have been given time to revive the days of HPU with some of it's old members. I've invited those I can find, though how many people know where their community invites page is is beyond me... So, we have LJ. Hope you like there theme, it's just LJ S2 with an alternate background, and took all of five seconds, but I like it. Anyway, their are decisions to be made... 1) Do we need a forum? 2) And, if so, Which forum provider would be the best choice? 3) Who should we open it to? All HPUers or just a select few? 4) How do we contact the old HPUers and convince them to come spend some time with us? 5) How are we going to enforce thread replies, so we don't end up with frozen RP as we did before? Anyway, these are the few we need to think about now, as I'd like to get a move on this weekend with forum space if we need it. If you all could comment here , or drop me a line in my LJ, answering at lest the top three questions it'd be super! xx Fefe ((Who re-discovered her old HPU icon))
